The early Maher figures are rare to find today
and "Tiny" is possibly the rarest of all of the original catalogued
Maher figures. Madeleine Maher was te builder of the figures early
on and like some of the builders of today the were conversion
figures. She used the Dummy Dan figures as a base and did some re
sculpting and added movements.
This figure is in amazing original condition. It has side to side
self centering eyes and slot jaw. The paint is all original and it
even still has the original wig lace still glued onto the head. All
of the hair is long gone so I placed a small wig on the head but did
not attach it so you could still see how the wig placement was done
originally on the head.
The body is original with shaped paper mache and wooden base with
the extended from on the base so that the figure would sit and not
fall over. The original paper mache hands, shaped like fists, are
present as well as the paper mache feet. The clothing is also all
original from Madeleine Maher.
These early Maher figures are very collectible today and you don't
see them come up for sale very often and the Tiny model is about the
hardest to find. I only know of one other which is owned by another
collector.
